Life in Umina Beach
Slowly getting over jet lag. I’m surprised how much I’ve slept since I arrived. Weather has been mostly sunny and warm in the sunshine but it feels surprisingly cool in the shade. Had a trip into Woy Woy with Mick to take him to the docs to apply for a disabled sticker(surprised he hadn’t sorted that out before!). Now he has to have a medical to ensure he is fit to drive before he can complete the forms, that’s not possible until 10th, but at least it’s in progress as is meals on wheels and cleaning support which we are going to progress tomorrow.
Also need to arrange a walking test to confirm his oxygen needs whilst walking and then we can think about a mobile oxygen kit. They’re not cheap so we have to get it right. Nearly made a mistake by going for an inappropriate pulse type, cheaper but ChatGPT advised it would be next to useless. One he needs probably circa 3-4k Aus.
Have to arrange trip to Newcastle to sign off Power of Attorney. Will all sorted and straight forward.
Great system here both PoA and Will all done through a government agency, no charge!
(UK could learn a thing or two!)
Sadly though Mick is practically immobile; visit to doctors took it out of him, even walking bedroom to lounge leaves him struggling. So have to plan visits out carefully.
I’ve been spending my time cleaning out the fridge and the pool. Both been sleeping quite a lot!
Mick has just the four tv’s and four strategically placed hifi systems with massive speakers so no lack of entertainment on that front!
As ever he’s in good spirits and we’re constantly chatting and laughing. He gets lots of phone calls, he has loads of mates that keep in touch but of course they’re all getting on and have their own lives to be getting on with.
