I’m sorry we have no diesel

I’m on my way to Lyons-la-Forêt, which might be my last stop before Calais. I’ve already booked my Sunday night stop at Calais ( just in case!, imagine me thinking ahead eh!) So I’ve been talking to uncle Mick, he’s in Thailand at the moment. Fuel is becoming a problem here he tells me, “make sure you keep topping up just in case!”
So dutifully on route to my current coffee break I spots a fuel station, so I pulls over, jumps out already to tackle the pump and a very nice lady comes out and starts talking to me in French. I couldn’t understand a word of course but the gesture did it👌. I didn’t think she was admiring my new wheel bearings and I know it doesn’t usually mean we have no fuel but in this instance it clearly did!
I can see I’m going to have to be careful to be topping up as per my brothers instructions. I’m stopped at a Cerrefour now and I managed to fill up and there was no queue, however the price made my eyes water €2.148. I’ve now passed the first fuel station with bollards preventing vehicles entering presumably because they have no fuel and the next one had quite a queue which is kinda surprising in a very rural part of the country that I’m in. We shall see. 🤷
