There’s a lot to like about France

Another long journey today. I’m now in a small town called Bourdeilles. ( just north of Perigeaux) I’ve not had a chance to check it out yet but will be heading in soon for a look around. I can see it has a castle and there is a river flowing just behind us. Kids are having football practice in front of us.
I managed to make it all the way here without using the Peage which was quite a challenge! All apps keep pointing to the motorways for some reason, even when you ask them to avoid tolls. In the end I devised my own navigation system by hopping from one destination to another ensuring i didn’t get routed to a motorway on each relatively short  leg. I’ve also realised that my twenty year old maps of France are quite unreliable (fancy that!).
I’ve also discovered that using the navigation apps I have; Google maps, Camping Car Park have their own navigation and Mr Snooper, sometimes in conjunction is quite useful. Also I used my Shokz today, why didn’t I try them before ? They’re brilliant. I can hear so clearly and because they only sit around the ear and not inside the ear you don’t lose the awareness of the outside world which I was concerned about and put me off using before!
I did have funny experience early on though, having set up the journey on Camping Car Park, I then decided I would use Google maps. Not realising the Camping Car Park app was still running. I had the Google woman wanting to take me one way and the Camping Car Park bloke wanting to take me a different way 😵‍💫.
I stopped at another lovely Bastide town on the way here, Eymet. Remarkably similar (obviously) to Monpazier which of course you will remember from an earlier blog post.
Off to find a beer now. I think it’s going to rain 🙄.
